Traditional metal braces use metal brackets and wires to straighten the teeth. For added fun, the ligatures and ties used with traditional braces come in a variety of colors that can be changed at every adjustment. We also offer clear ligatures and ties.

The roof of your mouth is called the palate. If a palate is too narrow, issues with the bite, alignment, or even breathing can result. The palate and the upper arch (called the maxilla) come together to form a midline suture after puberty but are not connected during childhood. Pediatric patients are the ideal candidates for palatal expansion because these two bones have not yet fused together. A palatal expander works by utilizing a customized appliance to widen the maxilla.

He pursued his orthodontic career at the University of Oklahoma, graduating from their dental program in 1983 and receiving a Master of Science in Orthodontics in 1985.
