The orthodontist studies the position of the teeth and jaws as well as the movement of teeth. Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the study and treatment of improper bites. In some countries, orthodontics requires a specific qualification, in other countries it does not always. No matter how the country regulates the education, an orthodontist usually only produces dental braces and doesn’t perform any other dental treatments. An orthodontist usually works together with a dentist. Orthodontics can fix your crooked teeth with orthodontic brackets, also called dental braces. Orthodontic therapy doesn’t exclusively deal with dental displacement alone, it can also deal with the control and the alteration of facial growth. This is called dentofacial orthopedics.
